Climate Change

Garcia River Forest

From Arizona to Maine, climate change threatens to impact communities. In the future, will your community have enough water? How often will it snow? What will an average summer day be like?

The Conservation Fund is fighting climate change by protecting and restoring forestland, which traps greenhouse gases. In doing so, we’re working to protect America’s land and water legacy for future generations.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle -- Restore?

You already know to reduce, reuse and recycle. The Fund also looks to the land to help fight climate change. According to the World Bank, the loss of trees—or deforestation—accounts for almost a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. In the United States, we lose more than two million acres of forests, farmland and natural landscapes each year to development. In the Lower Mississippi River Valley alone, more than 20 million acres of native forestland have been cleared in the last century.

The Conservation Fund offers innovative programs for companies and individuals to reduce carbon emissions.
