Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

In addition to neutralizing carbon dioxide emissions through Go Zero®, it is important that each of us reduce our personal climate change footprint by conserving energy. Big and small changes can add up and make a real difference in the fight against global warming. Here are a few simple things everyone can do.

Home

Home energy accounts for 21 percent of America's global warming pollution. Here are some helpful hints for how to reduce your home energy use.

  • Turn off unnecessary lights
  • Insulate your walls and ceilings
  • Run dishwasher only when full
  • Wash clothes in warm or cold water, not hot
  • Adjust your thermostat – lower in winter, higher in summer
  • Recycle paper, plastic, glass, metal
  • Buy energy efficient light bulbs
  • Choose recyclable products over disposable

Transportation

When it comes to global warming, how and what we drive are two of our most powerful choices. Transportation is the biggest source of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions, more than factories or homes. Here are some ways that will reduce the amount of fuel we use -- and us save money!

  • Check your car’s tire pressure regularly
  • Walk, bike, carpool, use mass transit, when possible
  • Keep your engine tuned properly.
  • Slow down
  • Don’t idle

What you can’t reduce – neutralize with Go Zero®!
